Second Harvest presents Leavenworth Mission with $20,000 donation

Second Harvest Community Food Bank will present the Leavenworth Mission with a check for $20,000 next Wednesday.

Communications Coordinator for Second Harvest Blake Haynes says that the check, which matched $20,000 in funds raised by the Mission, will help cover the cost of a badly needed new roof.

"They've started some of the tear-down process with some of the money.  But now, this $20,000 insures that they are not going to have to make any installment payments after the roof's put on.  They are going to be paid free and clear and able to remain."

Haynes adds that around this time of year, individuals should take some time to think about those who don't have the means to put food on the table.

"We have nearly 47,000 food-insecure individuals within our 19 counties.  This holiday season, if you can find it in your heart to be able to provide some of that assistance, it's tremendous.  Every dollar donated to Second Harvest will provide up to 3 meals back into your community.  You can designate that when you make your donation, you can say that you really want this to come back to Andrew County or the Maryville area."
